Luke Irwin
Visiting professor of New Testament
Luke Irwin is a native of Seattle, WA. He studied philosophy and history at Covenant College, and he holds an MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary. Most recently he completed a PhD in New Testament at Durham University, in which he researched the Fourth Gospel’s portrayal of God’s visibility in Jesus and its repercussions for belief. He is fascinated with the burgeoning scholarly interest in divine embodiment and visuality in biblical studies. He has also taught elementary Greek at Cranmer Hall in Durham, and currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies at Covenant College. His goal in every class that he teaches is to seek the beauty and glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Luke and Bekah met in St. Louis and were married in 2015. Bekah is an LPC and has worked as a mental health counselor. They had their first child, a boy, in 2022; as new parents they are thrilled and terrified in (nearly) equal measure.
Luke loves reading fiction, especially classic literature. He loves to travel in Europe with Bekah, and he loves the Northumbrian countryside. He does not, alas, follow any sports; but he is always up for a long hike or mountain bike ride in the mountains.
