Dave Morlan

Lecturer in New Testament

Dave Morlan is the teaching pastor at Fellowship Denver Church in Denver, Colorado, which he co-founded in 2005.  The initial vision and mission of FDC still invigorates Dave in his ministry and academic life - “to see a gospel movement that fills Denver with disciples of Jesus.”

Dave received his Bachelor's degree (BA) in Public and Interpersonal Communication from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1999, a Master's of Theology (ThM) from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2003, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Religion and Theology (PhD) from Durham University, United Kingdom in 2010.  Dave was awarded the overseas research fellowship from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2003 and spent a year as a scholar-in-residence in Historical Jesus Studies at Tyndale House at Cambridge University, United Kingdom.

Dave has served as an adjunct professor in New Testament at Gateway Seminary and as associate faculty at Denver Seminary where he has taught various courses including, The Gospels, Paul/General Epistles/Revelation, the Holy Spirit and Mission, and Mission Paradigms in Reading Scripture.  He also is a member of the Center for Pastor Theologians (CPT) and regularly contributes to their scholarly journal. He has written a number of books including Conversion in Luke and Paul (Bloomsbury) and Luke: The Gospel from the Outside In (Co-published by Lifeway and The Gospel Coalition, edited by DA Carson).

Dave is an avid sports fan and will always follow and cheer for the Broncos, Nuggets, and Rockies as well as the Oklahoma Sooners.  He can also be found playing old man pick up basketball 3 mornings a week at the local rec center.  He is even more passionate about investing in the next generation of church leaders and pastors and seeks opportunities to invest in them however he can.  Dave is married to the incomparable Renee and has three boys, Will, Ian, and Beckett, and a particularly licky labradoodle named Pearl.
