Something is amiss when students report that the seminary experience weakened their family life. However, it’s true that graduate school represents a significant investment of time, energy, and finances—things that are not easy to find in an already-full schedule. Without intentionality, this can create a burden for a family that is spread thin.
We are committed to thoughtful engagement of your whole household. Your spouse, your kids, are not an afterthought at Tennent. Would they like to join you for a retreat in the mountains? Bring them! Would your spouse like to audit classes? He or she is most welcome. Over the course of your residency, your family is invited to participate in buffet-style meals with like-minded believers, structured opportunities to connect with others, and plenty of unstructured time to rest and play. While you’re in class, your kids can romp in the great outdoors. We hope that every member of your tribe leaves refreshed.
At Tennent we believe that theology should overflow in life-giving, corporate doxology. Making space for reflection on that which is highest and best should be joyful, worshipful, and immeasurably encouraging to all of you. Not only will you complete a significant milestone in your academic journey, but your family will create lifelong memories, growing in their own enjoyment of God along the way. We strive to make this affordable and practically possible so that, at the end of the day, your investment enriches, and does not deplete, what is most precious to you.
